Aimee is a Licensed Master Social Worker with a background in education and a passion for creating safe, supportive spaces where individuals can share their stories and begin the work of healing. She enjoys working with children, teens, and women, and brings a compassionate presence to her therapeutic relationships.
Drawing from a psychodynamic-relational approach, Aimee seeks to understand the underlying patterns and relational dynamics that may contribute to feeling stuck or overwhelmed. She partners with clients as they navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma (both “big T” and “little t”), life transitions, and relationship struggles.
Aimee believes in the power of curiosity and connection to open the door to growth and resilience. Whether someone is seeking clarity, change, or simply a place to feel heard, she is honored to walk alongside them on their journey toward greater self-understanding and renewed emotional peace.
The unique perspective Aimee brings to the counseling setting includes growing up outside of a church tradition and experiencing family separation as a child of divorce. Aimee relates to those who find life full of little "t" traumas defined as "moments of perceived helplessness" over stretches of formative years. Her personal story includes developing a curious, non-judgemental perspective which helped her discover connections between learned adaptations in younger years to later relationship behavior in adulthood. This behavior includes struggles faced in marriage and parenting, especially during the teenage years.
Aimee and her husband Sean met at Covenant College and were married in 1994. They moved to Augusta in 1999 and together raised four children at First Presbyterian Church and Westminster Schools of Augusta where Aimee taught high school math and served as the Director of Admissions until 2016. Aimee is now working towards her LCSW as she splits her time between Southern Family Medical Center where she serves as a medical social worker and First Step where she is focused on seeing clients for counseling.
Aimee and Sean currently satisfy their longings for grandchildren with Pancho, a five-year-old Yorkipoo unofficially licensed in Georgia as an emotional support animal. (He has the vest and photo id to prove it!)
